Why use Thermowood in a Sauna?

Thermowood is timber that has undergone treatment at high temperatures, typically between 180°C and 230°C. This specific process eliminates moisture and provides natural resistance against decay. To maintain its rich appearance, we suggest applying a wood preservative stain to the exterior. Additionally, Thermowood acts as an excellent insulator, which helps the cabin retain heat effectively and lowers energy consumption.

Stainless Steel Adjustable Bands

To ensure the cabin remains structurally sound, it is secured with two adjustable stainless steel bands. These provide vital reinforcement, keeping the timber panels in position while allowing the wood to naturally expand and contract within the changing climate of Northern Ireland. Being resistant to corrosion, the stainless steel ensures lasting durability and a polished finish that suits the contemporary design.

Alderwood Benches

The interior benches, backrests, and heater guards are crafted from Alderwood. This material remains smooth and cool to the touch, providing the highest level of comfort and longevity inside your sauna.

Panoramic Glass Front – Light, Views & Serenity

An 8mm black tinted tempered glass front offers a sleek and modern aesthetic while providing a peaceful view of your garden or patio. This design allows plenty of natural light into the space to create an open and inviting feel, while the tint ensures your privacy is preserved.

Choose your Sauna Heater

One of the first steps in planning your sauna is selecting the most suitable heat source. An electric heater provides modern ease with simple temperature adjustments at the touch of a button, making it perfect for an effortless wellness routine. For those who prefer a more traditional approach, a wood-burning heater delivers a genuine, deep heat along with the relaxing, aromatic atmosphere of a real fire.

Deciding between an electric or wood-burning model depends on your personal taste, the space you have available, and the practicalities of installation. If you are unsure which option is right for your home, contact the Aquasun Wellness team today for professional guidance and all the answers you need.

Benefits of Saunas

Detoxification

Saunas help your body naturally flush out toxins through sweating. As your core temperature rises, blood vessels expand, circulation improves, and your body releases built-up impurities through the skin.

Regular sessions can leave you feeling lighter, refreshed, and cleansed — a simple yet powerful way to support your body’s natural detox process.

Muscle Recovery & Pain Relief

Heat therapy relaxes muscles, eases tension, and improves blood flow to tired or sore areas. This can reduce stiffness and speed up recovery after exercise or physical work.

It’s also known to help with chronic pain conditions such as arthritis or back pain, offering soothing, drug-free relief.

Stress Reduction & Mental Clarity

The gentle heat of a sauna helps calm the nervous system and reduce stress hormones like cortisol. The quiet, warm environment encourages deep relaxation and mindfulness.

Many people report clearer thinking and an improved mood after each session — like a mental reset for the body and mind.

Improved Circulation & Heart Health

Sauna use mimics the effects of light cardiovascular exercise. As your heart rate rises and blood vessels expand, circulation improves and oxygen delivery to muscles and organs increases.

Research suggests that regular sauna bathing may support heart health, helping lower blood pressure and improve vascular function over time.

Skin Health & Glow

The heat from a sauna opens pores and boosts blood flow to the skin, promoting natural cleansing and cell renewal.

After each session, you’ll notice a healthy glow as impurities are flushed out and new, oxygen-rich blood nourishes the skin’s surface.

Better Sleep & Recovery

A sauna session before bed can help your body wind down for a deeper night’s rest. As your core temperature cools afterwards, it signals your body to enter sleep mode naturally.

Combined with its relaxation benefits, sauna use can improve sleep quality, leaving you feeling restored and energised the next morning.
